UCEED

Overview

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Exam for Design (UCEED) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) programs offered by IIT Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, and IIITDM Jabalpur.

The UCEED score is also accepted by several other design institutes in India for B.Des. admissions.

Exam Pattern

The UCEED exam is a three-hour computer-based test (CBT) divided into two parts: Part A and Part B. Both parts are mandatory for candidates to attempt.

  • Part A (200 marks, 2 hours 10 minutes): This part consists of multiple-choice, multiple-select, and numerical answer type questions. It tests candidates' knowledge and skills in various areas related to design, including:

    • Visualization and spatial reasoning

    • Observation and design sensitivity

    • Analytical and logical reasoning

    • Environmental and social awareness

    • Language and creativity

  • Part B (100 marks, 1 hour): This part assesses candidates' sketching and drawing abilities. It involves solving problems that require candidates to draw, sketch, or create visual compositions.

Eligibility

  • Candidates who have passed or are appearing for the Class 12 exam from a recognized board are eligible to apply for UCEED.

  • There is no age restriction for appearing in the UCEED exam.

Selection Process

  • Shortlisting: Candidates are shortlisted for the next stage of the admission process based on their UCEED scores.

  • B.Des. Admission Process: Shortlisted candidates will need to apply to the B.Des. programs offered by the participating institutes. The selection process for each institute may vary and may involve additional stages like portfolio reviews, interviews, or group discussions.
