Overview
NID is one of the premium institutes of design imparting outstanding knowledge about various areas in design-Graphic design, Accessory design ,Animation & Auto-mobile design to name a few. To crack the entrance exam of NID might seem like a herculean task for the first timers, for the 2nd timers it might be a tad easier.
NID Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT)
The Design Aptitude Tests will be conducted in two stages:
Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims
Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains

Stage 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims
The Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Prelims primarily evaluates each candidate on the following abilities:

The DAT Prelims consists of two parts:

There are two different kinds of questions on the question paper: objective and subjective.

The exam lasts for 3 hours in total.

The GDPD course uses the same NID Paper Pattern as the B.Des course.

Prelims Marking Scheme
The exam is conducted for 100 marks, out of which the marks for objective and subjective are divided.

Stage 2: Design Aptitude Test (DAT) Mains
The DAT Mains for these programmes may consist of tests in different formats such as drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, presentations etc. These will be marked out of 100 points and will be conducted in English. The test centre will be NID Ahmedabad.
NID Studio Test for BDes Admissions:
The studio test for NID admissions comprises questions from topics like drawing/sketching, hands-on model making, group discussions, etc.
You can appear for the personal interview round if you are shortlisted in the Studio Test round.
Personal Interview for BDes Admissions:
The BDes/GDPD admissions interview round shall be held separately for each specialization (right after the studio test) at the same exam centre.
