Knitwear Design
Knitwear is an intensive course which merges the design and technical aspects of knits. Since the knitwear industry is emerging in India there are plenty of job opportunities for candidates with a strong knowledge of fabrics in retail and export sector. The knitwear course provides the know how of a number of relevant software’s, pattern making, garment construction, fabric knowledge, fabric innovations, styling, forecasting and touches upon a number of theory subjects like marketing, buying, visual merchandising etc. All in all, it is quite a lengthy and informative course with a lot of hard work and lots of creative inputs that are required. The career avenues after knitwear designing can be designer, merchandiser, buyer, stylist, trend forecaster.
Textile Design
This is another intensive course focusing upon fabrics and fabric developments. It includes in-depth knowledge of fabric sciences, surface design techniques, weaves, and designing of fashion and home textiles. The avenues after TD are home designer, fabric designer, apparel designer, fabric technician, print technician etc.
Fashion Design
This course spans all avenues of fashion, including pattern making, draping, garment construction, fashion illustration, styling and entrepreneurship for those who want to start their own label. It focuses on woven fabrics and includes designing collections for women’s, men’s and kidswear. Likewise, the career avenues in this course are of a designer, illustrator, stylist, and fashion forecaster.
Accessory Design
The career avenues in AD are furniture, jewellery, accessories, footwear designing, fashion photographer, visual merchandiser etc.
Fashion Communication
FC is associated with the media part of the fashion world. Career avenues after FC are fashion photographer, stylist, fashion journalist, visual merchandiser etc. If you, too, believe that the only thing that’s there to fashion is designing garments- think again. There are a lot of things happening all around us, which we encounter in our daily lives, but fail to realize the vast career opportunities hidden behind them.
